Facebook Pages vs. profiles — what's the difference?

Not sure if you have a Facebook Page or a personal profile? This article explains the difference and shows you how to check — so you can connect the right account to dlvr.it.

Every Facebook user has a personal profile. But dlvr.it can only connect to Facebook Pages — not personal profiles or professional profiles. If you're having trouble connecting, it's worth taking a moment to confirm which type of account you're working with.

1. How to find your Pages and profiles

The quickest way to see all of your Facebook accounts in one place:

  1. Log into Facebook

  2. Click your avatar in the top right corner

  3. Click See all profiles

This will show you all of your profiles and Pages together. If you don't see a Page listed here, it could mean:

  • You don't have a Facebook Page — you may only have a personal or professional profile

  • You're logged into the wrong Facebook account — log out and sign back in with the correct email address

  • Your profile doesn't have Admin access to the Page — check out our guide on Facebook admin settings for help with this

2. What's the difference between a Page and a profile?

Here's a quick summary:

Can connect to dlvr.it?

Facebook Page

Yes

Personal profile

No

Professional profile

No

Every Facebook user starts with a personal profile. From there, you can create a Facebook Page or convert your profile into a professional profile — but you cannot convert a profile directly into a Page.

Important: dlvr.it only supports Facebook Pages. Personal profiles and professional profiles cannot be connected due to Facebook API restrictions.

For more detail on what you can do with each account type, see Facebook's guide to profiles and Pages.

3. How to tell which type of account you have

Go to your Facebook account and look at the Intro section in the left sidebar, just below your name. Here's what each account type looks like:

Facebook Page

The Intro section will show the word "Page" along with the Page category (for example, "Page · Software").

Personal profile

A personal profile won't show the word "Page." Instead, you'll see a Friends tab in the navigation bar across the top of the profile.

Professional profile

A professional profile won't show "Page" or a "Friends" tab. Instead, the Intro section will show the word "Profile" along with a creator or professional category (for example, "Profile · Digital creator").
